There are over 200 individual contacts and members from various walks of life and professional fields such as Counselling, Dentistry, Education, Health Care Administration, Kinesiology, Law, Medicine, Nursing, Pastoral Care, Pharmacy, Philosophy, Psychology, Social Work, Sociology and Therapy. Among our membership are activists, volunteers, consumers and students. Whether you are a health care provider, a volunteer or a recipient of care, membership in the Centre for Health Care Ethics will expand your horizons and assist the Centre to fulfil its mission.

As a Member, you will:

  • Have an opportunity to provide input into our programs, raise ethical issues that need discussion and clarification, participate in discussion panels and on ethics committees
  • Keep informed about ongoing healthcare ethical concerns, programs and activities
  • Gain knowledge that can lead to better understanding why conflicts happen and to resolving ethical healthcare challenges
  • Stimulate community interest in ethical issues regarding healthcare
  • Contribute financially to the expansion of the Centre's work

You may also wish to donate to the Centre for Health Care Ethics and receive a tax receipt for a charitable donation of $20 or more.

Institutional Membership (May 1 to April 30)

Lakehead University Centre for Health Care Ethics (CHCE) fosters high quality, ethical health care in Thunder Bay and the Northwestern Ontario Region. Founded by Dr. J. Kotalik in 1998, we engage in research, education, and capacity building with students, health care workers and their organizations, academics, and members of the general public.  As the 1st Canadian Unit of the International Chair in Bioethics, the CHCE has connections around the world to leading experts on contemporary issues in health care ethics.
