The mission of CHCE is to enhance the ethical quality of health care in our geographic area as well as in society in general by maintaining a forum for dialogue and collaborative actions in health care ethics among Lakehead University, health care and educational instutitions, health care professionals and the general public.

CHCE endeavours to create a regional program in health care ethics by:

1. promoting and assisting in the education of bioethics for its members, academic staff, students, health care professionals and public.

2. providing consultations, analysis and advice on ethical aspects of policy developments to the private and public health care sector; and

3. facilitating collaborative interdisciplinary research in selected areas of bioethics.
