Advisory Council of the Centre for Health Care Ethics LU
The Advisory Council is a committee of stakeholders drawn from leaders of health care organizations, institutions of higher education and community representatives interested in promoting the highest ethical standards in health care and biomedical research through collaboration with CHCE of Lakehead University.
- Purpose
- To advise CHCE on its overall direction and future development
- To assure that CHCE receives adequate input from collaborating health care and educational organizations concerning their needs in health care ethics
- To receive reports from CHCE and provide advice to CHCE on program plans and business plans
- To evaluate and make suggestions for education programs, research and other activities of CHCE
- To assist in securing on-going funding for CHCE
- Composition
- Chief Executive Officers/Directors (or their representatives) of organizations that are institutional members of CHCE
- Two or three invited persons representing affiliated members of CHCE and general public
- Two representatives of the senior administration of Lakehead University
- The Director of CHCE
- Two representatives of the Executive Committee of CHCE
- Organization
- The Chair will be chosen from the Advisory Council for a two year term beginning in September.
- The Vice-Chair will be chosen from the Advisory Council for a two year term beginning in September and will normally become the next Chair.
- Secretariat will be provided by the Director of CHCE.
- The Advisory Council will meet a minimum of two times a year.
- A quorum of five members will be required for a meeting.
- Communication by email will be an acceptable method of correspondence.
- Participation in meeting could be via teleconference.

Institutional members pay institutional membership fees as per the suggested fee schedule.
Affiliate members are organizations which pay $100 per year.
Individual members are periodically invited to make donations.
